Star Wars – Episode Four: A New Hope
Well let’s get the reviews started with the film that started it all…. Star Wars. Even though this is “Episode 4” this is the first in the series created in 1977. George Lucas created this franchise and he was ahead of his time when he came up with this film. You have to appreciate something that was created in the late 70s that looks so beautiful and tells a legendary story. This movie unlike the other movies is the only stand alone film so if you want to get someone invested into the franchise you have to show them this film. This film along with episodes 5 and 6 are the most parodied films in history so if you never seen these films you’ve seen it recreated and quoted millions of times.
The Story: The story is about a galactic war between the evil Sith Republic versus the Jedi Rebel Alliance. From this war rises heroes such as: Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Obi-Wan, Han Solo, Chewbacca and etc. Along with the heroes come legendary badass villains Darth Vader and the Emperor. The ancient lore of the Jedi Order and The Sith begins in this movie and it is expanded upon in later films and novels.
What’s Good: What’s good is that this was a very simple story to tell…. The light versus the dark… so it’s easy to follow. It also has very iconic scenes such as the destruction of the Death Star. Like I said earlier this is the movie to watch if you want to get inducted into this wonderful franchise.
What’s Bad: Nothing really bad honestly…. C3P0 can be extra at times but other than that nothing to hate.
Best Characters: This is one of those rare movies where I can say everyone plays their role without any hiccups. Everyone has their favorites every character are damn near iconic in one way or another. Han Solo is one of the greatest anti-heroes ever, Luke Skywalker is one of the greatest heroes ever, Darth Vader is one of the most legendary villains in film history every, Chewbacca and Han are one of the greatest duos in movies history, and etc. George Lucas crafted these characters to perfection.
Worst Characters: Like I said everyone played their role to perfection so this is one of the rare times when I can say I hated nobody in a movie.
Overall Grade: A+ – This film is all types of awesome which is why the legacy of Star Wars will live on forever. This may be the only flawless movie in the series but let’s see if my opinion changes as the reviews roll on.
